Abstract

Hospital resilience is a pivotal factor in determining the effectiveness of healthcare supply chains, particularly in the face of diverse disruptions and challenges. This chapter conducts a rigorous examination of hospital resilience by undertaking a comprehensive literature review to analyze and synthesize the prevailing definitions across scholarly works. By scrutinizing a variety of sources, the chapter aims to construct a comprehensive understanding of hospital resilience, emphasizing its multidimensional nature and contextual variations. Furthermore, a detailed overview of the frameworks used for the qualitative evaluation of hospital resilience is provided, drawing from a wide array of literature in this domain. By presenting a panel of these frameworks, this chapter equips healthcare practitioners, researchers, and policymakers with valuable insights to enhance the resilience of healthcare supply chains. Ultimately, this study contributes to the advancement of knowledge in the field, facilitating more effective strategies for managing and enhancing hospital resilience in healthcare supply chains by identifying the key factors influencing hospital resilience.
